The "Internationale OpernWerkstatt Sigriswil" in the Bernese Oberland, is a venue for highly talented young singers from all over the world. It considers itself as a gateway between studies and professional career, as a workshop in the true sense of the word, where highly talented young voices are being prepared for their professional life in intense musical and scenic rehearsals with the help of a modern and lively concept of stage direction. However, the young artists receive also important impulses which encourage them to proceed on their way – perhaps in a different direction – or initiate new ways of thinking. With this goal in mind, Verena Keller has founded the "Internationale OpernWerkstatt" 22 years ago. Meanwhile this workshop has established itself as an internationally recognized development program for gifted young opera singers from all over the world. Verena Keller's work has quickly gained high recognition in the specialized press as well as by the public.
The FAZ described the Internationale OpernWerkstatt as a "GLIMMER OF HOPE".
Musical Opera Directors and conductors look out for young talents in the performances following the workshop, and the participants can benefit from Verena Kellers grand network. Thus, numerous participants of the "Internationale OpernWerkstatt" found their way into a permanent appointment at an opera house. Recently Evgeny Sevastyanov was hired at the IOS of Opera Zurich, Judit Isabela Kutasi at the Opera Zurich and Javid Samadov at the State Theater Nuremberg.
