studied direction and screenwriting / dramaturgy in Vienna at the University of Musik and Performing Arts. He staged at Opera Zurich, Mariinsky Theatre St Petersburg, Theater an der Wien, Volksoper Wien, State Opera Vienna, at the opera houses in: Klagenfurt, Graz, Cologne, Wiesbaden, Wuppertal, Gelsenkirchen, Winterthur, Krefeld and others.

He was a guest at the Festivals of Wien Modern, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, Prague Spring Festival, Sydney Festival, Toronto Festival, at Bregenz Festival and Salzburg Festival. The collaboration with Valery Gergiev in a production of Idomeneo resulted in a new staging of Ariadne auf Naxos at Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

 

He received the award for direction from Max Ophüls Festival for his film „Hurensohn“. As film director and script writer he filmed among others with Cecilia Bartoli the journey on the trail of the singer Maria Malibran. „Malibran rediscovered“. More Filmworks: Casanova Variations with John Malkovich, Veronika Verres, Anna Prohaska, Jonas Kaufmann a.o.

Since 2014 he is appointed director of Sommerspiele Perchtolsdorf.
