finalized his conducting studies in his home town of Berlin. There, he gathered practical experience on the conducting desk of several operatic ensembles specializing on contemporary musical theatre, i.e. the Neue Opernbühne Berlin.....


Even during his studies, he had the opportunity to assist Lothar Zagrosek at the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and Rudolf Barschel at the German Federal Youth Orchestra. 1999 to 2003 he was lecturer at the Berlin University for the Arts. In summer 2003 he was engaged for the Volksoper in Vienna where he conducted a wide-spread repertoire, among others Hänsel und Gretel, Carmen, Tosca, La Bohème, Le nozze di Figaro, Der Freischütz, Die spanische Stunde, Die Kluge, Die Fledermaus, Martha, Die lustigen Nibelungen, La clemenza di ´Tito, Die verkaufte Braut and the first-ever performance of the ballet “Alice”. In addition, he was engaged as conductor for the State Theatre of Hesse in Wiesbaden. He conducted concerts and recitals with: Staatsorchester Kassel, Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester, Komische Oper Berlin, Berliner Sinfonieorchester, Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig. 2002-2007 he was connected with the Salzburger Festspiele, first as répétiteur, then as choirmaster. In this latter position he was responsible for the preparation of Le nozze di Figaro, La clemenza di Tito, Benvenuto Cellini and Der Freischütz (2007, under the baton of Markus Stenz) and of several concerts. 2007/8 he was guest at the Komische Oper Berlin (“Alice”) and the Leipzig Opera. Since 208/2009 he is First Conductor with the Leipzig Opera, conducting Jenufa, The Flying Dutchman, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Carmen, La Bohème and Don Giovanni. In spring of 2010 he is returning to the Vienna Volksoper to conduct Tosca, La Traviata and Orpheus in der Unterwelt.
